The Cheongye Kwan
Concept

The Cheongye Kwan’s
concepts of combat incorporates the flowing application
of changing from system to system without conscious
thought. For example, a single
opponent encounter may use a defensive combination of 3
or 4 styles in order to end the opponents attack. It may start with
defensive blocking techniques that are utilised in
Tang Soo Do or Kuk Sool Won and then lead
into counter attacking measures from Taekwondo or
Yudo and then culminate in the finishing of the
encounter with tactics from Hap Ki Do or
Tukong Musul.
Over time through
training in the various methods and techniques, the
students can then apply the concept to the attack by
subconsciously knowing and choosing how much of each
method is needed at each stage of the defence to be
successful. The fight may only take
place standing, and may not go to the ground, or it may
go to the ground very quickly and take place on the
floor. Using the Cheongye Kwan Concept will facilitate
the students to develop over time a knowledge base of
various methods that they can utilise and rely on at any
given point during the fight.
All of this is done with
a flow and without the deliberate thought of the styles
being used, this is what we call the Cheongye Kwan
Concept, subconsciously changing and adapting between
systems. It is the absence of intentional thought from
style to style to use the most effective elements to
create the best possible outcome from the encounter.
The ability to switch
from system to system affectively during the fight comes
from the Cheongye Kwan exposing its students to the
elements of the multiple systems, such as the use of
Yudo’s throwing and holding techniques or Hap Ki Do’s
locking and breaking techniques. The more the student
trains, the more exposure they are given to the various
methods which ultimately results in a larger database
for the subconscious to draw from during the
confrontation.
We are not a Martial
Arts multi-style, we are one complete Martial Arts
system that originated from the combining of Martial
Arts ideals which we added to our own philosophy from
which our concept was formed to create one fluid system!
