Cheongye Kwan Black Belts

All Black Belts within the Cheongye Kwan are officially registered at the Kukkiwon (the World Taekwondo Headquarters) in South Korea.

 

 

Dave Scott Age: 22 Grade: 1st Degree Training since: March 2003 Favourite Technique: Reverse Kick   About Dave: Dave is one of the schools original members and is also a registered assistant instructor within the association, he is also a former National Silver medallist in Sparring.		Chris Taylor Age: 31 Grade: 1st Degree Training since: November 2004 Favourite Technique: Turning Kick   About Chris: Chris enjoys practicing and teaching weapons training within the association, as well as studying weapons patterns. Chris is also a former National Gold Medallist in Sparring.
Phill Lowe Age:20 Grade: 1st Degree Training since: February 2004 Favourite Technique: Axe Kick   About Phill: Phil enjoys the fitness and Poomse aspect of his training as well as assisting in the teaching of Kup grades, he is currently studying a BSc. degree in Chemistry at Manchester.		Tom Mayor Age: 15 Grade: 1st Degree Training since: July 2004 Favourite Technique: Slip Reverse Kick   About Tom: Tom is in in final year of school, and already he has developed his physical and technical skills to an exceptional standard, which match's the grades he is also getting in his academics.

 

What is Kukkiwon Certification? The Kukkiwon is the World Headquarters for Dan/Poom certification and is situated in Seoul, South Korea. A Kukkiwon certificate is widely regarded as the most prestigious of all the Black Belt certificates within the art of taekwondo. The World Taekwondo Federation, which is the international governing body for Taekwondo, requires that all those who wish to compete at international level be Kukkiwon certified. Those that do not have Kukkiwon certification may also find that they might not be able to qualify in official courses such as International Referee, etc. Who can authorize Kukkiwon certification? Only a 4th Dan or above who is Kukkiwon certified can apply for the "Right to Recommend" a Kukkiwon certificate on behalf of those successfully passing the Dan/Poom test. How much does Kukkiwon certification cost? It should not take more than 3 months from the time of application to the time of receipt. How can I check if my Kukkiwon has been applied for? Ask your association’s chief instructor and also check on the Kukkiwon Dan checker, provided by the Kukkiwon. What is the value of the Association certificate? The certificate issued by your school or association is valuable and important to you, but a Kukkiwon Certificate is required for Olympic Taekwondo and for students who wish to represent their country in all WTF National and International events and competitions.
