Taekwondo’s Strength (2007)

Sometimes my body can fail to see,

the strength my art bestows on me.

The power within that travels through,

I got from training strong and true.

Each class I took just pushed me more,

to make me see my inner flaws.

I will not bend, I will not break,

my confidence it will not shake.

In times of illness and defeat,

I will rest until I’m complete.

But once that time has come and gone,

my strength will flow as I move on.

My art will make me all I can be,

to light the path ahead of me.

And when the time is drawing near,

I will stand and face my fear.

I walk the path that many wont,

because my art is what I most want.

I live and fight in every way,

to use my art some point each day.

There is no force that can hinder me,

I am as strong as I should be.

This will never change I know,

and all because of Taekwondo!

When (2008)

When the winds of change are harsh and true,

and it seems to get the best of you.

When you look for sun but you get the rain,

and you yearn for peace but you just find pain.

When your mood is low and frustrations high,

and things just seem to pass you by.

That’s the time to stand and run,

to the open doors of the Cheongye Kwan.

The members there invite you in,

and help you see what should have been.

They guide you through your early days,

with encouragement and lots of praise.

The training’s hard and the path is long,

but soon you’ll feel like you belong.

Cause the Cheongye school is there for you,

its now our job to help you through.

Now you’re the student in the class,

who’s turned your will from ice to brass.

And you’ve come so far from where you where,

that now your feelings are reversed.

Now you’re the teacher people seek,

no longer shallow, no longer weak.

The school, the path, the road you ran,

was the Martial Art of Cheongye Kwan.

The Way (2009)

As life goes by from day to day,

we move along with work and play.

We work to have to the life we want,

then smile and laugh and play and jaunt.

Content with all we have and own,

not too concerned with if we’ve grown.

And then without a thought or plan,

you see a sign for the Cheongye Kwan.

Something new has caught your eye,

and stopped you from just passing by.

An image of a kick or throw,

it might be fun to have a go.

You try a class or two to see,

if you are all that you can be.

A passer by you are no more,

you took the step went through the door.

A student of the art you are,

your character has come so far.

And yet although the years have passed,

you’re still the white belt new in class.

Cause as the road ahead unfolds,

the Cheongye Kwan will push your goals.

To make a better brighter you,

achieving what you want to do.

Our Hero's (2009)

We're all amazed to watch in awe,

as our favourite actor takes the floor.

A kick from Bruce or a punch from Chuck,

we know the bad guy's pushed his luck.

Never scared to stand and fight,

they're always there to do whats right.

Justice has prevailed once more,

as the Martial Arts evens the score.

But who is the man behind the fist,

not just a name in the credits list.

The hero in the suit and patch,

with a heart of gold and the skills to match.

The one that all the people cheer,

that kicks away our doubts and fears.

The guy that says "Its better now",

how does he do it we wonder how.

Perhaps the screen a mirror is,

and the actors job is ours not his.

The Martial Arts is just a 'Way',

you must decide to walk or stay.

Allow the art inside of you,

to let the actor come shining through.

And when the fight is all but done,

you're the actor from the Cheongye Kwan.

The Journey (2009)

The journey of the Martial Arts,

is always made from many parts.

Sometimes we kick or even spar,

for me the patterns are the best by far.

The aches and pains will go away,

but the lessons learned will always stay.

The road just takes me on and on,

the vehicle is - the Cheongye Kwan.

Theirs lots to see along the way,

sometimes we work sometimes we play.

From self defence to breaking boards,

my education is rest assured.

I love this path that I am on,

how can I thank the Cheongye Kwan.

The art is endlessly there for me

to help me out when I can not see.

Students – teachers – masters - all,

just one big family in one big hall.

Ego’s left outside the door,

and my glass is empty to use once more.

I know I’ll never fill the glass,

and that’s what takes me to class after class.

A Korean stylist is what I am,

Thank you, thank you Cheongye Kwan.

Loyalty (2009)

I heard a teacher say a word,

and something deep inside was stirred.

The word implied a faithfulness,

or so i thought at my best guess.

The importance of the word was such,

that every part of me was touched.

The word itself was Loyalty,

and now it was a part of me.

It lets me know i have a role,

a part to play - an unending goal.

My dedication to a single aim,

regardless of fortune or fame.

It shows them all - both teacher and friend,

that upon me they can depend.

This, Cheongye Kwan has given me,

its who i am - its my duty.

My character inside has grown,

my flaws are being over thrown.

The errors once inside me are,

moving away so very far.

To train this way I'm surely blessed,

so I'll make sure i give my best.

And when the battle is finally won,

I'll know its thanks to the Cheongye Kwan.

Pride (2010)

Pride is good it shows we care,

brings out our best and helps us share.

It lets us know that we've worked hard,

and stuck around to play our part.

But pride can be a two edged sword,

and sometimes lead to disaccord.

If left unchecked it can change its stance,

and turn from pride to arrogance.

Now we can watch our ego grow,

as pride sets in and overthrows.

Under attack our character fights,

to win the day and do whats right.

I will not let my ego rule,

I'll fix this flaw tonight in school.

My teacher, friends and family all,

will help rebuild my self-control.

I know I'm blessed that i could find,

an art that teaches both body and mind.

It shows me what I'm all about,

then gives me ways to figure it out.

With pride in check I can now move on,

with the help I got from Cheongye Kwan.

Again the school has shown to me,

a balance that till now I could not see.
