I had seen a
lot of
Martial Art
films over
the years,
but never
dreamt of
doing any. I
started my
journey
several
years ago as
a mature
student. I
have liked
the
discipline
and training
format. I may not be
as fast as
the young
ones, but I
enjoy the
various
skills being
taught. I
signed up
for one art,
and ended up
with five
Korean Arts
as the
school has
evolved. I have
enjoyed CKD
and now all
my four
children are
involved. It
certainly
gets rid of
any stresses
or worries
that have
built up
during the
day. Its worth
giving it a
go.

I have been training with the Cheongye Kwan for fast
coming up to a year now and have never looked back. I
have always loved doing sport, and classes not only give
an excellent workout, they also help you to understand
the philosophical and "spiritual" side of the martial
arts, qualities that not only help you progress
physically, but also help you to achieve the right frame
of mind to live a successful life. Since starting I am a lot more confident in and about
myself, and that shows not just walking around dark
streets at night, but also at university, where I am
able to assert myself more towards my work and not more
trivial things as I used to. The instructing team are friendly and more than
accommodating for any level and age, and I can
wholeheartedly recommend the Cheongye Kwan to anyone who
is serious about bettering themselves both physically
and mentally.

I really enjoy coming to class.
My favourite is pattern work. I am going to keep
going and hope to get my Black Belt.

I first began training when i walked into my local village hall
over 6 years ago, that night marked the start of my
journey in martial arts. At first my desire to train
was based around learning self defence and a
fascination with martial arts i had seen on TV and
film. In six years it has become so much more than
that, the benefits I have received from training are
immense. Setting aside the obvious physical benefits
such as strength and stamina, I have gained massive
benefits mentally. Through training I have gained a
calm disciplined mind that has given me benefits in
my everyday life and has been reflected in my
academic studies and helped me in my transition into
working life. I think that the past six years have
been some of the most important in shaping myself
and have had a massive influence on the who i am now.
The training has been exceptional with Master Cook
being a fantastic mentor both in the physical skills
but in the mental skills as well.

Our daughter Ellie has been a
student for nearly 3 years and always looks forward
to coming to class every week.
Over time we have
seen an improvement and we are happy for her to
continue to learn the discipline, self control and
self defence involved which we know will benefit her
throughout her life.
